My dear friends, in our fast-paced world, it often feels like we are constantly running. From one task to the next, from one demand to another, our lives can quickly become a blur of activity. We chase after moments of peace, perhaps through a vacation, a hobby, or simply an hour of quiet. Yet, how often do we find that true, lasting rest eludes us?
I want to share with you a profound truth that has transformed my own walk with God and brings genuine peace to many whom I have had the privilege to shepherd at GO Centre . It’s the truth that Christ is our Sabbath Rest. This isn’t just about a day of the week, but about a spiritual reality that allows us to cease from our striving and find deep, abiding peace in Him.
Think about the original purpose of the Sabbath. It was a day to cease from labor, to remember God’s creation, and to trust in His provision. It was a gift of rest. But with the coming of Jesus, something even more profound was revealed. He declared Himself to be Lord of the Sabbath, and in Him, we find the ultimate rest for our souls. He invites us, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
This rest is not simply the absence of activity; it is the presence of God’s peace. It’s a peace that transcends our circumstances, a quiet confidence that despite the world’s demands and our personal struggles, Jesus has done all that is necessary for our salvation and peace with God. When we embrace Christ as our Sabbath, we are saying:
- I will cease from trying to earn God’s favor. His grace is a free gift, received through faith in Christ .
- I will cease from worrying about tomorrow. He is sovereign, and He holds my future in His hands.
- I will cease from striving to be enough. In Christ, I am made complete and righteous.
This spiritual rest frees us from the exhausting cycle of performance and anxiety. It allows us to lay down our burdens, our anxieties, and our need to control every outcome. It’s a surrender to His perfect work and His unfailing love. As a pastor and teacher of God’s Word, my passion is to present “pure doctrine” that helps you find these biblical answers for today’s questions .
If you are feeling weary, overwhelmed, or restless in your spirit, I encourage you to turn to Jesus. Allow Him to meet you right where you are, and experience His presence . He offers a rest that the world cannot give, a deep, soul-satisfying peace that will anchor you in every storm. It is in Him that we truly find our Sabbath. May you be blessed as you seek this glorious rest today!
